It all started in the block corner, two boys with an interest in spiderman and web making. Initially cities were built, with sticky tape webs stretching from one building to another. But eventually, the buildings were forgotten, and the webs became their focus.
Spiders were drawn, cut out and attached along the length of the stick webs.
The children's designs became very intricate and the children struggled with the thought of taking them down to make way for the 3 y.o. groups to use the block corner.
Lot's of discussion and problem-solving took place as the children pondered the problem. They decided that their webs needed to be located up high, out of reach of the 3 y.o's little hands. As they had investigated the shape of 'orb webs', they decided that they could make their webs inside hula hops and hang them up above the block corner.
Little webs were popping up everywhere!
The children carefully designed and worked on their webs.
Plans were made.
Spiders were created....
... and added to the webs.
And spiderman returned!
But wait! It didn't all end there!
What is it with boys and giant webs I wonder?! Our children enjoy the same kind of play Karen. So much fun and so much learning ... love it!
ReplyDeleteWell it appears to have been the link with spiderman that sparked the children's interest in webs in this case. Thankfully we can obtain sticky tape cheaply at the $2 shops! :)
